It is that time of year where I get a lot of inquiries for senior photo sessions. I love it! Senior portraits are some of my favorite photo sessions. Each senior brings their unique style and personality to these sessions and that can be so fun and creatively freeing for me as a photographer. Letting you be you is so important! So, if you are a free spirit, or maybe more of a book worm, or maybe a sport fanatic, let’s document you as you are! What do you want to remember as you hit this high school completion and milestone? Location, location, location.
Location is everything, right? Well, maybe not everything when it comes to senior pictures, but it is a big part of what makes them stand out.
Your wardrobe, attitude and willingness to try something even if you don’t feel super confident at first will be super important to get stunning photos during our time together. Taking time to plan out what your vision is beforehand also helps your photo session experience go as smoothly as possible. Plus, it also makes it so much more fun to create these photos together! I will be with you every step of your senior portrait session to make sure you feel your best, look your best and we document this major milestone in your young life as smoothly and beautifully as possible. But back to location, here are a few ideas to get your senior session in Tampa Bay inspiration! From urban, to the beach, to natural parks or your own home, or school, your session should showcase you!

Are you more into modern vibes? Maybe you love architectural lines, the bright lights of the city, or love to wear fun and vibrant modern prints or maybe your wardrobe style is best suited to city streets. Tampa or St. Petersburg have lots of little niches of neighborhoods that can highlight the more urban side of the city. From Ybor City to Water Street, or Winthrop Town Center, dowtown Dunedin, or the larger downtown Tampa, or downtown St. Petersburg all offer a great backdrop for a more urban and youthfully fun photo location. Murals, or graffiti filled doors and abandoned buildings gallore, we have been doing sessions in our urban settings for over 14 years and have lots of favorite unique spots.

What could be more Florida than senior pictures at the beach?

The beach is always a good idea. Well, if you love the beach that is. If you hate the wind messing your hair up, or sand getting all over, then maybe this is not the location for you. If you love breathing in salt air this is a great option. I usually start off the beach in some rich and lush greenery first. That is a great option for portraits and then get down to the beach for the last sun dripped moments before sunset for more relaxed moments of fun and beach vibes. Whether the bay on the Hillsborough County side of Tampa Bay, at locations like Apollo Beach, EG Simmons, Davis Islands, Picnic Island or Cypress Point these beaches are typically smaller and each have a unique look in upon themselves. Or, heading to Pinellas County, we love Ft Desoto, Treasure Island, Redington Beach, Upham Beach, and Indian Rocks Beach and many of the county parks where parking is plentiful if you are not staying close to the beach itself. Or, a little farther south, we absolutely love Longboat Key or Anna Maria Island (Bean Point) for soft white sandy beaches, too! Both Pinellas County and Manatee County require a $50 travel fee, but I think you will always think that is worth it every time with the softer sand and much nicer water to explore. However, the three beach photos below were all taken at the Hillsborough County small beaches!

Are you most comfortable at home? Do you have a unique property in Tampa Bay? I am here for it, let’s make it simple and let me come to you. Bonus, no photo permit approval required like most of the locations around the area!!

having your pets at your session is also a win-win for senior sessions that make you feel comfortable and happy, too!
If you are more comfortable at home or have a special bond to your home or land, let’s meet there. Nothing is easier! I can find the beauty in any spot, focusing on the light and what makes your home special. Or maybe you have a spot you love in your neighborhood, or spot you spend a lot of time at, let’s incorporate that special sport into your session as well. Swimming pools or basketball courts, wherever you feel at “home” I will document you there!
FIELDS OF PLENTY
This particular field location pictures above is in Plant City. It is well worth the drive as it is quiet, and lots of variety in a small space! Great for mopre of a country feel, or boho style or for friends just looking for some privacy while doing your session as it is much less crowded than other locations; perfect for the shy kiddos who need photos, too!
I also have other field like locations that work at different time of the year. A flower field that springs up in early February, or an open field that is in Fishhawk Ranch, as well as other little nooks of parks around Tampa Bay.

This time I will focus on the guys and a few more hidden gems to stand out!! If you are looking to schedule your senior photo session, don’t delay. Weekends book up quickly, with most of the weekends in February already booked. Spring break and some weekend availability in March and into early April! Weekdays are discounted, so as the days get longer with the sun setting later and later, that is a great option once daylight savings begins March 9th!!!
